Artist's Description

This Soft Pastel is a still life portrait depicting a bent flower. There are other flowers, fruit, a silver tray, and a silver pitcher in the painting, but those all represent life's distractions and our failure often times to notice the bent flowers in our world.

It would be easier if there were no bent flower in the picture, then all the other things in the picture would not be distractions and we would have a world free of distractions. Or, perhaps the Bent Flower is the distraction. Do we remove it from the picture and toss it aside, or do we seek out all of the Bent Flowers in our world and provide them with nourishment to rejuvenate them and allow them to stand up straight on their own? This Soft Pastel still life seems to be asking for the viewer's answer to the Bent Flower question.
